Component Testing
Component Testing
What is AS6081?
AS6081 is the “gold standard” for fraudulent/counterfeit electronic parts avoidance, detection, mitigation, and disposition. It establishes the requirements and practices for inspecting and authenticating critical electronic components. For customers that require it for their application there is no substitue for the range of tests that start with:
- Documentation/packaging/visual inspection
- Remarking/resurfacing testing
- X-Ray, XRF (or EDS/EDX)
- Decapsulation
And can also include additional, more application specifc tests if required:
- Thermal
- Electrical
- Burn-in
- SEM/SAM
- Other tests
When selecting the AS6081 testing add-on, Components-Exchange only uses nationally (and globally) acclaimed testing houses that are AS6081 Certified to perform Component Testing in accordance with AS6081 (using AS6171 methods).
Quantity Required for Test
Certain tests within AS6081 are destructive by nature (Remarking/Resurfacing and Delid/Decapsulation) and as such will require some parts in the batch to be consumed in the process (for exact numbers reference the AS6081 spec, but generally qty 3 for active circuits).
Please note that for any parts sent though testing that includes destructive investigation, the final number shipped to the customer after testing will be less than the purchase quantity by the number consumed in the testing process. Customers that are purchasing parts to send through destructive testing must do so with the understanding that the quantity required for destructive testing is not refundable from the purchase price of the entire lot
Testing Fees
Testing fees are calculated by batch, and Components-Exchange is pleased to be able to offer a low flat rate for the most popular AS6081 testing options. If you require testing to be performed, simply select the option during the checkout process and the testing amount will be automatically added to your order. Other testing options also are available upon request.
